I think this has to be my third attempt at blogging. We have one for the kids, and I used to (could possibly still have) a livejournal blog. However since we are starting a new journey in the next year, and I like this sites set-up better, I think its time to start again.
Only disclaimer is I write what I think, and as far as the process to head overseas, we haven't told everyone yet, so keep it mostly confidential. Thanks.
We are excited that we have been invited to attend their candidate school in June, and from there we will proceed to find out where our placement will be, and then hopefully around August go over for a two week 'vision casting' trip.
To some this is news, but to others we have been keeping them informed all along. To us its been a five year long process in the making. Finally we find ourselves with no infant, or an infant to be, and in a position where we are more than willing to pick up and go. There is a team we have already been in contact with that needs a irrigation engineer, so hopefully we will be placed with them. If it turns out to be, then I will post more info after we are certain.
I'm mostly excited but sometimes I look at our house (which we rent) that I prayed for nine long months to find, and think but really? God? Really? I mean its a two year committment which means packing everything up, and selling most of our belongings, and starting at square one in another country! The doubts start bombing me from all sides, am I cut out for this? can I really give all this up? what about the kids, is this fair to them? will my family ever understand? how? how do we raise that much money? how do we just leave our life here and not return for two years? what if this is permanent, instead of a two year stint? ugh. But there are other thoughts as well, I can finally make a difference, I will finally be the hands and feet of Christ in a way I know I'm doing. wes' dream will be fullfilled, it's a great way to know if this is our career calling, our kids will be exposed to a whole new way of life, and culture!
So it begins, and we are moving forward. And may God be glorified in our obedience, and our desire to do His will.
